For 2017 IBS has come up with 3 options for shooting 1000 yard benchrest. We have talked it over and we are glad to say that Harry Jones 1000 Yard Rifle Range has decided to shoot option (1) . It will be just like in the past with relays and a shoot off but with one change. There could be a 2nd and 3rd place points winners. Below is how it reads on the IBS website.

IBS 1000 YARD SHOOTER OF THE YEAR PROGRAM 2017

(1) IBS registered match must have 8 or more competitors (IBS shooters).

(2) IBS 1000 yard Shooter of the Year (SOY) honors will be based solely on the points accumulated at the first 10 sanctioned IBS 1000 yard matches per IBS 1000 yard club per year. There is no limit as to the number of clubs a shooter may accumulate SOY points at, as long as they are the first 10 matches sanctioned by the IBS per club during the calendar year. Points accumulated by a shooter at all matches shot by the shooter, plus the National Championships, count towards SOY.

(3) It is the responsibility of the individual 1000 yard clubs to submit a schedule of points awarded to each shooter (relay and match) per match for SOY. This should also be included on the results sent in to the IBS webmaster. The Long Range committee which will designate one individual to be Keeper of the Points who will submit a report of results to all Clubs periodically during the year so they can be posted at the Clubs next match.

Option 1

The total number of shooters in a class will be divided as evenly as possible into relays. If a relay has more than 12 shooters, the relay may be split as two separate relays or two combined relays. In the case of a combined relay, the two best groups and the two best scores will advance to the shoot-offs and split the points from the total number of shooters. A shooter is defined as a person who has paid the entry fee and filled out and signed the registration form, a copy of which is to be sent to the IBS after each Match. To be counted in the total shooters for relay and match points, the shooter must be sitting at the bench they were assigned when the "commence fire" command is given and be an IBS member.

In the case where there is only one relay the winner of that relay must shoot another target that would be scored as their shoot off target.

It is the responsibility of the individual 1000 yard clubs to submit a schedule of points awarded to each shooter (relay and match) per match for SOY. The Long Range committee which will designate one individual to be Keeper of the Points who will submit a report of results to all Clubs periodically during the year so they can be posted at the Clubs next match.

Class relay winners will receive .05 points for every IBS shooter in the relay, with .6 points being the maximum allowable points given for a relay win.

The SOY points awarded for Shoot off winners will be as follows:

8 to 12 IBS Shooters 1st Place Group and Score .030 pts per IBS Shooter in Class

13 to 24 IBS Shooters 1st Place Group and Score .030 pts per IBS Shooter in Class

2nd Place Group and Score .015 pts per IBS Shooter in Class

25 and up IBS Shooters 1st Place Group and Score .030 pts per IBS Shooter in Class

2nd Place Group and Score .015 pts per IBS Shooter in Class

3rd Place Group and Score .010 pts per IBS Shooter in Class
